The QualiTec Awards are held annually during the Seatec Exhibition, in Carrara, Italy. Their main purpose is to recognize prominent new products launched at the trade event that demonstrate innovative product design whilst enhancing life on board.

SeaStar Solutions, the global leader in steering and control systems, is proud to announce SeaWays Autopilot, a versatile autopilot that will get SeaStar Optimus system owners to their destination with confidence and efficiency. Because SeaWays works within SeaStar’s Optimus 360 and SeaStation systems, it requires no additional hardware and minimal tuning. SeaWays is, in fact, a simple software upgrade to the Optimus 360 Pump Control
Module (PCM) using the CANtrak display and takes advantage of SeaStation’s GPS sensor.
Before we explain the details, let’s put SeaWays in context. A few years ago, SeaStar Solutions
introduced its revolutionary Optimus 360 joystick docking system for twin outboard powered boats.
Optimus 360 combined an advanced electronic Pump Control Module (the brains of the system),
with a new electronic helm, smart steering cylinder and throttle/shift control. In addition to speed-
adaptive power steering while underway, close quarters maneuvering was now possible using a
joystick to control engine steering and thrust, moving the boat forward, backwards, diagonally, even
sideways. This is all accomplished with minimal shifting and greater precision.
Since then, SeaStar Solutions has expanded the capabilities of the Optimus 360 system to include
triple and quad outboard installations, as well as outboards with either mechanical or electronic
throttle and shift controls.
In October 2016, SeaStar was the first to introduce its SeaStation GPS Anchoring System with three
individual modes. SeaStation uses the Optimus 360 system to hold a boat in position in one of three
modes; position, heading or position and heading combined. And now, SeaStar has further expanded the capabilities of the Optimus 360 system, by adding its new SeaWays Autopilot.
SeaWays Autopilot utilises the SeaStation GPS-Compass sensor and Optimus 360 components
that are already installed to provide directional control based on heading, course over ground or
waypoints. With a simple install of new software to the Pump Control Module via the USB port in
the Optimus 360 CANtrak display, SeaWays provides autopilot capabilities. No additional hardware,
wiring or plumbing is necessary. SeaWays’ autopilot functions can be accessed and controlled
through the CANtrak display or a third party chartplotter or MFD.

(February 15, 2015, Litchfield, IL) – SeaStar Solutions, the global leader in marine steering and electronic
control technology, has announced the availability of its acclaimed Optimus 360 joystick docking and control
system for Mercury® Verado™ six-cylinder digital throttle and shift outboards.

Now, owners of Verado outboards can enjoy the benefits of SeaStar Optimus 360 joystick control technology for close quarter maneuvering, as well as Optimus EPS (Electronic Power Steering), SeaStation GPS Anchoring and SeaWays Autopilot capabilities.

“Last year, we introduced our Optimus EPS electronic power steering for Verado outboards,” said Tom
Douglass, vice president of sales and marketing for SeaStar Solutions. “Now, for the first time, we are able to
offer our complete suite of Optimus Solutions to Verado owners.”

The Optimus 360 system will provide complete multidirectional joystick control of any vessel with twin or triple Verado outboard installations. (The quad Verado Optimus 360 joystick control will follow in the summer.) Low speed diagonal, sideways, forward and reverse movements are controlled by the simple and intuitive movement of the joystick. An exclusive “boost” mode provides added thrust to overcome strong wind or current.

The Optimus 360 system also includes Optimus EPS power steering. In addition to making steering easier while
underway, Optimus EPS’ speed adaptive feature allows lock-to-lock turn ratios to be programmed to match
engine rpm. For example, when running at cruising speeds the steering can be set to eight turns lock-to-lock, so
minor movements of the wheel won’t translate into significant changes in course. When operating at lower
speeds, the lock-to-lock ratio can be set to as low as 3.5 turns, and steering effort can be further eased to aid
when maneuvering in tight spaces.
Because Optimus employs an “on demand” pump system, skippers will realize an immediate power savings,
limited pump heat generation and improved durability.

    The 45th Annual Fort Myers Boat Show, November 16-19, 2017 at the Harborside Event Center and the City Yacht Basin is shaping up to be the biggest show in the last several years. On the Caloosahatchee River, in the heart of the historic “River District” (myriverdistrict.com), this is just about the perfect setting for a show with a unique combination of indoor, outdoor and in-water display areas. You will find more than 500 boats, 160 accessory booths, 100 plus different boat lines, and a variety of how-to and boating information displays.

    With just about every type of boat imaginable, you will find inflatables, personal watercrafts, skiffs, bay boats, flats boats, center console boats, pontoon boats, deck boats, cruising boats, performance boats and much more. In water at The City Yacht Basin will be both new and brokerage boats of every description to nearly 80’ in length.

    From engines and electronics to docks and boat lifts, to all types of marine services to clothing and nautical gift items, and just about everything else you need on the water, you will most likely find it inside the Harborside Event Center or throughout the outdoor displays.

    In Centennial Park, “Fishin’ Frank’s Fishin’ Village” is its own mini-fishing show. There will be tackle displays with many factory reps on hand, a seminar area with local charter captains talking about inshore and offshore fishing, a casting tank, and the popular fishing simulator which gives visitors a chance for a virtual battle with everything from bass to marlin.Event Details
