Furuno has a well-earned reputation for building the most durable and feature-rich commercial marine electronics in the industry. It’s no surprise that their new Combo units, the GP1871F and GP1971F, have taken on the sleek look-and-feel, as well as the advanced features of their award-winning NavNet TZtouch2 MFD’s.
Camas, WA, May 14, 2018 – Furuno has a well-earned reputation for building the most durable and feature-rich commercial marine electronics in the industry, and for applying those technological breakthroughs to their recreational product line. With that in mind, it’s no surprise that their new Combo units, the GP1871F and GP1971F, have taken on the sleek look-and-feel, as well as the advanced features of their award-winning NavNet TZtouch2 MFD’s.
The GP1871F and GP1971F Chart Plotters utilize full-featured C-Map 4D charts. C-Map 4D empowers you with plenty of useful data that you can overlay onto rich vector and raster charts, such as relief vectors, bathymetric layers, satellite photos, tidal streams and marine plans, significantly boosting situational awareness. Creating routes and waypoints is as simple as touch-and-go, and since the series integrates with Furuno’s NavPilot Autopilot series, navigating to your destination has never been easier. Plus you can let the Chart Plotter plan your course with its EasyRouting feature. When connected to an AIS receiver, you can see valuable AIS data on the display. C-Weather, which provides downloadable wind, wave, weather, humidity and temperature information, is another standard feature.
These Combo units also include a built-in single-band TruEcho CHIRP, as well as a conventional Fish Finder, transmitting at 300W, 600W or 1kW. Simply tell the unit which transducer you are using and it will select the appropriate Fish Finder. The TruEcho CHIRP transmits across a spectrum of frequencies, delivering an incredible amount of detail, clearly marking individual game fish and bait fish. The conventional Fish Finder includes RezBoost data processing for an ultra-crisp, high-resolution picture. Other features include ACCU-FISH fish size assessment, and the highly useful Bottom Discrimination function to help you find the most productive fishing grounds.
Radar can be overlayed onto the GP1871F and GP1971F Chart Plotter display via wireless connection to the Furuno DRS4W 1st Watch Wireless Radar. The DRS4W’s wireless configuration makes it a breeze to add the compact 19″ Radar dome to any vessel. The DRS4W can also display the Radar presentation on a connected smart phone or tablet, offering a major upgrade in safety and versatility.
With their generous 7″ and 9″ wide-aspect presentation, the all-glass, multi touch displays give you access to every feature via convenient and intuitive slide-out menus. Slide your finger down from the top of the display to select Quick Pages, including your favorite custom display modes. Slide in from the left to view customized Data Boxes. Slide up from the bottom to quickly adjust your layer settings. Finally, slide your finger in from the right to instantly access the menu functions you use the most. Everything in the menu is intuitive and contextual, so the content relates to the current display mode. You can even tap or double tab the display with two fingers to capture a screen shot or perform other customized functions!
This new generation of MFD-like Combo units from Furuno allows captains of any size vessel to take advantage of Furuno’s recent innovations, such as their Multi Touch technology, 3D Chart Plotting, TruEcho CHIRP Fish Finding, AIS, and 1st Watch Wireless Radar, all at a price that promises not to break the bank. To make this introduction even sweeter, for a limitied time, C-MAP is offering a $100 Instant Rebate on a 4D Wide chart of your choice, with the purchase of a GP1871F or GP1971F.

Quantum 2 with doppler target identification technology is Raymarine’s most advanced solid-state marine radar
Raymarine’s most advanced solid-state marine radar has been recognised at Italy’s Seatec Exhibition for its aesthetic design, innovative features and light weight
Raymarine’s new Quantum® 2 radar with doppler target identification technology, has been awarded the 2018 QualiTec Design Award, held during the Sea Technology and Design (Seatec) Exhibition, Italy’s only design and technology trade show for the yacht and shipbuilding industry.
Developed to integrate with Raymarine’s award winning Axiom® multifunction displays, Quantum 2 enhances boater’s situational awareness by intelligently identifying moving and static targets at both long and short ranges.
The QualiTec Awards are held annually during the Seatec Exhibition, in Carrara, Italy. Their main purpose is to recognize prominent new products launched at the trade event that demonstrate innovative product design whilst enhancing life on board.
This year’s esteemed jury acknowledged an impressive list of stand-out features of Raymarine’s Quantum 2 radar, which resulted in the Raymarine Italia team being presented with the QualiTec Design Award:
An excellent evolution of Raymarine’s Quantum 1 radar
– Enhanced graphics
– Aesthetic design
– Lighter weight
– Excellent short-range identification of targets.
– Fast tracking and visualization of the imminent dangers
– New doppler function distinguishes potentially dangerous targets in heavily trafficked areas
– Easy identification of potentially dangerous targets in red and safe targets in green enhances safety and operator of the surrounding vessel traffic.

New Autopilot System is the Ultimate Extension of SeaStar’s Optimus 360
Steering and Joystick Control System
SEASTAR SOLUTIONS ANNOUNCES OPTIMUS 360
FOR MERCURY® VERADO™ OUTBOARDS
Optimus 360 System, including Optimus EPS, SeaStation GPS Anchoring and
SeaWays Autopilot Now Available for Popular Verado Outboards
(February 15, 2015, Litchfield, IL) – SeaStar Solutions, the global leader in marine steering and electronic
control technology, has announced the availability of its acclaimed Optimus 360 joystick docking and control
system for Mercury® Verado™ six-cylinder digital throttle and shift outboards.
Now, owners of Verado outboards can enjoy the benefits of SeaStar Optimus 360 joystick control technology for close quarter maneuvering, as well as Optimus EPS (Electronic Power Steering), SeaStation GPS Anchoring and SeaWays Autopilot capabilities.
“Last year, we introduced our Optimus EPS electronic power steering for Verado outboards,” said Tom
Douglass, vice president of sales and marketing for SeaStar Solutions. “Now, for the first time, we are able to
offer our complete suite of Optimus Solutions to Verado owners.”
The Optimus 360 system will provide complete multidirectional joystick control of any vessel with twin or triple Verado outboard installations. (The quad Verado Optimus 360 joystick control will follow in the summer.) Low speed diagonal, sideways, forward and reverse movements are controlled by the simple and intuitive movement of the joystick. An exclusive “boost” mode provides added thrust to overcome strong wind or current.
The Optimus 360 system also includes Optimus EPS power steering. In addition to making steering easier while
underway, Optimus EPS’ speed adaptive feature allows lock-to-lock turn ratios to be programmed to match
engine rpm. For example, when running at cruising speeds the steering can be set to eight turns lock-to-lock, so
minor movements of the wheel won’t translate into significant changes in course. When operating at lower
speeds, the lock-to-lock ratio can be set to as low as 3.5 turns, and steering effort can be further eased to aid
when maneuvering in tight spaces.
Because Optimus employs an “on demand” pump system, skippers will realize an immediate power savings,
limited pump heat generation and improved durability.
